Acupuncture – Eugene Lee Mahoney, LAc, AEAMP White Center Acupuncture @ West Seattle Wellness
About me, my mission and philosophy of treatment:
My professional name is Eugene Lee Mahoney, but my patients call me “Lee”. I have lived in West Seattle and White Center for 15 years but grew up here in Western Washington. I love to travel but I must say nowhere is quite like the Pacific Northwest, it’s home.
I found acupuncture and East Asian medicine through my own health journey. It literally transformed my health and my life. I want it to do that for you. That is why I am so passionate about what I do. I believe it can have a meaningful and long-lasting impact on your health and subsequently your life. Because of that, I love what I do.
I believe our bodies need a gentle nudge to find a better, healthier level of homeostasis. Feeling better, pain-free, where we are able to enjoy the things we love, is part of what good health is all about. I treat patients in a safe, quiet, relaxing, open, accepting and affirming environment.
I have been trained in multiple techniques and styles but my preferred style is one that was developed in Japan and taught by local master practitioners. Japanese acupuncture, what I practice, tends to be gentle, personalized and very effective. I also employ cupping, gua sha, moxibustion therapy, herbal remedies, dietary modifications, shiatsu, sotai and tui na in my practice every day for a well-rounded treatment.
Areas of Specialty
General Health & Well-being:
Whether it is insomnia, fatigue, recovering from a cold or flu, cough, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, or countless other things that cause you discomfort and add stress to your busy life-styles I have treated it. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary modifications, all are employed to help you feel better, faster.
Let’s face it injuries can keep us from so many things in life while in the recovery phase. But what so many people don’t realize is that acupuncture can help shorten the amount of time, you are laid up waiting for your injury to heal. I employ acupuncture, external and internal herbs, and cupping to bring better vascularization, reduced inflammation and to help enhance the body’s natural ability to generated tissue. I make 90% of the liniments I use, “in-house.”
Pain is the single most common reason why most people seek the help of an acupuncturist. There have been so many studies showing just how effective it is and it is a great alternative to opioid prescriptions. Using the same gentle and effective techniques I mentioned above, we will have you back to feeling better. We can get measurable results with a few treatments. Those results include the intensity, duration, and frequency of the pain is reduced. The intervals between painful flare-ups increased and your quality of life subsequently improved too.
Auto Immune Conditions:
I work with my patients suffering from chronic conditions, like auto-immunity, to see what strategies they are already employing to help reduce inflammatory flare-ups related to active condition auto-immunity. I employ acupuncture, moxibustion therapy, external and/or internal herbal remedies, dietary modifications, mindfulness practices, to help patients reduce or eliminate the active phase of auto-immune conditions. We are actively looking to reduce the intensity, duration and frequency of inflammatory flare-ups and their relative symptoms. At the same time we want to increase the intervals between those flare-ups, while also improving quality of life. The course of treatment is typically long-term treatment strategy set with multiple short-term goals, most notably to manage inflammation.
Whether you are gender-transitioning, non-binary/ gender neutral, or a cis-woman/ cis-man struggling with your health, or even a single person or couple trying to get pregnant, I have worked with patients with a wide and varied set of needs related to their reproductive health. Acupuncture and East Asian herbal medicine is uniquely positioned to help as its treatment strategies maintain modesty and dignity while being personalized, gentle and proven effective. I pride myself in providing a mature, safe, welcoming, accepting and affirming environment for my patients around issues as sensitive as these.
